Position Overview:
SEVCA is currently seeking a Financial & Energy Coach – Lead to work directly with people to increase their financial well-being and self-sufficiency via credit building, debt reduction, savings strategies, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in supporting people to engage in education and activities that will enable them to become more finically self-sufficient as well as accessing available resources that will help them to save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides 1:1 counseling /coaching and group classroom training; with an emphasis on providing the tools and resources to help participants make informed and fiscally responsible decisions and investments.
- Establish and maintain positive liaisons with community resources and other agencies.
- Market the availability of the program, and provide newsletters, press releases, or other communication about program activities.
- Attend program-related events to represent SEVCA and the Financial Coaching program.
- Maintain program data and submit required reports for agency and grantors; participate in the planning, evaluation, and assessment of efficacy of services.
Qualifications:
- B.A. degree, preferably in financial management, community development, human services, planning, or community organizing, or an AA and nationally recognized accreditation in Financial Counseling or Financial Coaching. Two years relevant experience can be substituted for the degree.
- Knowledge of and experience with budgeting, credit building, debt reduction, savings, student loans, and general personal money management.
- Experience with coaching, counseling or similar 1:1 direct service provision and group facilitation and training.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the challenges faces by people living with low incomes.
- Experience in marketing and public relations or community outreach desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal & organizational skills.
- Proficiency in database & other computer knowledge.
- Must have reliable transportation and current valid driver’s license.

Family Services
Employment Type: Full-time position.
Salary: $41,600-$47,800 per year. Benefits.
Location: Based in Springfield.
Position Overview:
SEVCA is currently seeking a community-minded individual to join our Family Services team in our Springfield office. This individual will work directly with low-income clients to assess their needs and help resolve crisis situations by providing application assistance, coordinating community services, providing information, referrals and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer advocacy, information, and referrals to help clients avoid eviction, obtain safe and affordable housing and keep their homes heated by accessing necessary resources.
- Establish and maintain positive liaisons with community resources and other agencies.
- Collaborate effectively with the Family Services team
Qualifications:
- Experience in human services-related field preferred.
- Possess excellent organization, communication and problem-solving skills
- Some knowledge of the community and its resources, along with the ability to expand and organize that knowledge to better serve clients.
- Strong communication, interpersonal & organizational skills, and computer literacy.

Head Start
Employment Type: Full-time, benefited, full-year position
Location: Springfield - travel to sites required.
Position Overview:
SEVCA is currently seeking a Head Start Health/Nutrition Manager who is responsible for developing and implementing a Health Services Program Plan which will ensure that all children receive the required health and nutrition services within the time limits stated in Head Start Performance Standards and Vermont State Licensing. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in supporting families with young children to maintain excellent health, and helping SEVCA’s Head Start program to deliver services to support family health and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Head Start Performance Standards in areas related to health and nutrition services (Sub-Part D health program Services1302.40-1302.44).
- Organize and host a Health Advisory Committee for the program to ensure parents and staff are updated on current information on health-related topics.
- Develop contracts with Nutrition Consultant and design a Nutrition Services Policy to ensure that the nutrition components are meeting the requirements.
- Supervise the Food Service Providers in all the centers.
- Oversee work with Tooth Tutor.
- Track health services for all children and families.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Associates Degree and relevant experience in public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health, or health administration
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Sensitivity to the challenges faced by low-income families and individuals.
- Experience supervising others.
- Experience providing staff training and development, including on-site consultation, coaching, and mentoring to other staff.
- Valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.

Weatherization Department
Employment Type: Full-time, 4-day week, 10-hour days.
Position Overview:
Installing energy-saving measures in homes of low-income residents.
The ideal candidate will have construction and/or building science knowledge, dependability, and problem-solving skills. Construction & insulating experience preferred but not required.
