Position Overview:
SEVCA is currently seeking a Finance Director to provide agency-wide administrative services and oversight in the areas of financial and grant management, personnel and human resource management, procurement and other business functions in compliance with all applicable fiscal, administrative, corporate, legal, funding and regulatory requirements, and to ensure that SEVCA maintains and enhances its capacity to achieve its mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the agency meets all internal and external financial management requirements by enforcing a strong internal control structure; maintaining an accurate and efficient accounting system for disbursements, receipts, cash flow, payroll, procurement, and account reconciliation; maintaining an accurate record-keeping system; and providing direct supervision of all Finance Office personnel.
- Keep the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and funding sources informed of the fiscal status of the agency by providing timely and accurate financial statements and reports.
- Support the management and planning processes of the agency by developing, monitoring, analyzing / projecting, and revising budgets as required, in conjunction with program managers.
- Facilitate the daily operations of the agency by establishing, maintaining, and supervising efficient compensation, cash receipt and disbursement, and accounts payable systems
- Establish and maintain positive and constructive relationships with funding sources, financial institutions, vendors, and auditors.
- Coordinate SEVCA’s responsibility in the annual audit process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field consistent with developing appropriate skills and expertise to fulfill job duties, and 5 years of related work experience. A combination of accounting education / knowledge demonstrated track record in the field and the generally accepted equivalent in experience may substitute for the required degree. A CPA is a plus.
- Documented supervisory and/or management experience.
- A strong background in non-profit administration and grant accounting or management required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Solid computer skills, especially the use of accounting and spreadsheet software. Word processing proficiency preferred.

Position Overview:
- Performs & oversees finance, accounting, and reporting activities, including: GL management, account reconciliation, cash & revenue receipt processing, depreciation, accruals, accounts receivable, adjusting journal entries, monthly closings, post-award grant accounting & compliance, accurate & timely submission of financial reports, and orderly closure of projects & grants.
- Assists Finance Director & Department managers with creating & monitoring budgets.
- Provides financial data through research and analysis and keeps everyone informed of new grants and requirements.
- Prepares for annual external audit, and state and federal grant reviews and audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and minimum of 3 years' related experience, including some in nonprofit fund accounting with multiple grant & revenue sources.
- Experience with accounting software, preferably AccuFund or similar fund accounting package, payroll applications, Excel and Word
- Strong background working in nonprofit finance office environment and with grant accounting & management preferred.
- Payroll, HR experience a plus.

Position Overview:
SEVCA is currently seeking a Financial & Energy Coach – Lead to work directly with people to increase their financial well-being and self-sufficiency via credit building, debt reduction, savings strategies, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in supporting people to engage in education and activities that will enable them to become more finically self-sufficient as well as accessing available resources that will help them to save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides 1:1 counseling /coaching and group classroom training; with an emphasis on providing the tools and resources to help participants make informed and fiscally responsible decisions and investments.
- Establish and maintain positive liaisons with community resources and other agencies.
- Market the availability of the program, and provide newsletters, press releases, or other communication about program activities.
- Attend program-related events to represent SEVCA and the Financial Coaching program.
- Maintain program data and submit required reports for agency and grantors; participate in the planning, evaluation, and assessment of efficacy of services.
Qualifications:
- B.A. degree, preferably in financial management, community development, human services, planning, or community organizing, or an AA and nationally recognized accreditation in Financial Counseling or Financial Coaching. Two years relevant experience can be substituted for the degree.
- Knowledge of and experience with budgeting, credit building, debt reduction, savings, student loans, and general personal money management.
- Experience with coaching, counseling or similar 1:1 direct service provision and group facilitation and training.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the challenges faces by people living with low incomes.
- Experience in marketing and public relations or community outreach desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal & organizational skills.
- Proficiency in database & other computer knowledge.
- Must have reliable transportation and current valid driver’s license.

Family Services

Location: White River Junction
Position Overview:
SEVCA is currently seeking a Disaster Case Manager to work directly with people impacted by the July 2023 flooding. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in supporting their communities to recover from the flood. Case managers will partner with disaster survivors to assess and address unmet needs, identify available resources, and support their financial, physical, emotional well-being. This two-year program is funded by FEMA in partnership with the State of Vermont.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide intensive and relationship-based case management to clients facing challenges as a result of the flooding in July 2023.
- Offer advocacy, information, and referrals to help clients access necessary resources.
- Establish and maintain positive liaisons with community resources and other agencies.
- Collaborate effectively with the SEVCA and state and federal teams.
Qualifications:
- Requires high school diploma.
- Experience in human services-related field preferred.
- A BA or BS in Human Services, Social Work, or a related major is desirable.
- Sensitivity to the challenges faced by low-income families and individuals, along with experience working with them, can substitute for a degree.
- Requires some knowledge of the community and its resources, along with the ability to expand and organize that knowledge to better serve clients.
- Strong communication, interpersonal & organizational skills.
- Proficiency in database & other computer knowledge.
- Travel will be required to affected homes and areas. Driver’s license required.
- Able to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals.

Head Start
Employment Type: Full-time, full-year position
Location: The CCSC will have an office at both Chester (Chester Community Preschool) and Springfield (Pine Street (Pine Street Preschool), but will travel to other classrooms as needed, to provide support, guidance and covering staff who are absent when needed.
Position Overview
- The Child Care Services Coordinator (CCSC) is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of curriculum and classroom operations for the child care programs, during non-Head Start weeks (This would include vacations weeks and summer months).
- The CCSC will be responsible for growing the child care program to the other Head Start centers. The CCSC will support children and families needing the Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP) in completion of the application and maintaining certificates for payment of tuition.
- He/she will oversee billing to the state and creation of tuition invoices to families, as well as collection of payments.
- He/she will be a resource to Family Service and Health staff and other content area managers.
Qualifications
- A Baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education is required for the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others (both verbally and written), including giving and receiving feedback on the quality of services.
- Experience with the Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP)
- Experience planning and implementing a preschool curriculum.
- Experience in a ECE supervisory role.
- Valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff at all times.

Position Overview:
SEVCA is currently seeking a Head Start Health/Nutrition Manager who is responsible for developing and implementing a Health Services Program Plan which will ensure that all children receive the required health and nutrition services within the time limits stated in Head Start Performance Standards and Vermont State Licensing. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in supporting families with young children to maintain excellent health, and helping SEVCA’s Head Start program to deliver services to support family health and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Head Start Performance Standards in areas related to health and nutrition services (Sub-Part D health program Services1302.40-1302.44).
- Organize and host a Health Advisory Committee for the program to ensure parents and staff are updated on current information on health-related topics.
- Develop contracts with Nutrition Consultant and design a Nutrition Services Policy to ensure that the nutrition components are meeting the requirements.
- Supervise the Food Service Providers in all the centers.
- Oversee work with Tooth Tutor.
- Track health services for all children and families.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Associates Degree and relevant experience in public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health, or health administration
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Sensitivity to the challenges faced by low-income families and individuals.
- Experience supervising others.
- Experience providing staff training and development, including on-site consultation, coaching, and mentoring to other staff.
- Valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.

Weatherization Department
Employment Type: Full-time, 4-day week, 10-hour days.
Position Overview:
Installing energy-saving measures in homes of low-income residents.
The ideal candidate will have construction and/or building science knowledge, dependability, and problem-solving skills. Construction & insulating experience preferred but not required.
