New SEVCA Micro Business Development Cohorts announced for 2026

SEVCA Launches New Micro‑Business Development Cohorts in Springfield, Wilmington/Dover

Westminster, VT — January 8, 2026— Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA) is excited to announce the launch of new Micro‑Business Development cohorts and workshops in Springfield, Wilmington/Dover, Hartford/White River Junction, Bellows Falls and the second year of Brattleboro. This announcement and expansion of this program is due to a highly successful pilot cohort in Brattleboro. Wilmington/Dover and Brattleboro kick off this month with more details coming soon on the others.

SEVCA's cohort model provides aspiring and current small business owners—especially those from lower-income or underserved communities—with coaching, workshops, and peer support to help build skills, confidence, and connections for business success. Participants gain guidance in business planning, marketing, taxes, financing, and more.

“Our Micro Business team helps local community members turn ideas into viable businesses,” said Chris Meyer, SEVCA Economic Development Lead. This model has done very well in Brattleboro over the past six months and has seen businesses such as 802 Soul Kitchen and Mama T’s Sweet Spot blossom from working within the cohorts.
